Ben Collins is an American professional triathlete, originally from Seattle; he is now living in Chicago. In 2005 Ben graduated from Columbia University where he was captain of the swim team. At first he began racing in triathlons as a hobby, but was immediately sucked into the triathlete lifestyle. He was immediately successful in the triathlon races. By the end of 2007 he made his way to the top of the amateur ranks – placing first overall in the Amateur World Championships.
In 2008 Ben began racing professionally with the support of K-Swiss, Garmin, and many others. From 2010 to 2012, Ben was part of the USA Triathlon National Team, living at the Olympic Training Center in Colorado Springs.
Ben just came in first place at the New York City Triathlon this last weekend. He finished in 1 hour, 43 minutes, and 25 seconds on Sunday. In addition to his triumph in NYC he came in first place at the World Triathlon Chicago on June 28th, 2014. He also came in first in the Mont Tremblant 5150.
