ULTRAMAN WORLD CHAMPIONSHIPS is NOT your average endurance event, it spans the 3 days and 320 miles to stretch the limits of human endurance. This week our own ambassador, Nick Logan, will be in Hawaii in the field of Ultraman athletes who will compete at this year's challenging event.
Covering a total distance of 320 miles (515 kilometers) on the Big Island of Hawaii requires that each participant complete a 6.2 mile (10 K) open ocean swim, a 261.4 mile (421 K) cross-country bike ride, and a 52.4 mile (84 K) double-marathon run.
Races: 1st time Ultraman World Championships, 2014 Ultraman Florida 3rd overall, 2013 ITU Age Group World Championships (Sprint/Olympic), 2013 Rev3 Quassy Revolution (Olympic Saturday/ Half Iron Sunday) 2012 Pumpkinman Challenge (Sprint Saturday/Half Iron Sunday) 2011 North Face Endurance Challenge 50 mile run.
Nick's dream of competing came true this year after qualifying for the Ultraman Championships in Kona. Nick said" I do ultra events to see what I am capable of and see how far I can push my limits. After completing Ultraman Florida in February I know I have only scratched the surface and there are more great things to come. Prior to competing earlier this year I had always read about the sense of camaraderie between the athletes and I was lucky enough to witness it first hand. The bonds I made with my new friends over the weekend are truly special to me and will last me the rest of my life."

Dehydration Results In Lower Blood Pressure And Slows Bodily Processes. Active individuals should be aware of the acute effects of dehydration on performance. With just a 2% loss of water in the body, heat regulation becomes impacted. With a 3% drop in body weight from water loss, muscle cell contraction is impacted. And at 4% loss, there is 5-10% reduction in overall performance that can last up to 4 hours.
We need to hydrate. But how can you hydrate and replace electrolytes without the harmful additives like sweeteners and artificial flavoring common in sports drinks that are harsh on your stomach?
