EnduroPacks' ambassador Sara Randolph decided that one marathon wasn’t enough for her so she signed up to do 2 marathons in 2 days!
This past Saturday Sara ran the Wisconsin Marathon on Saturday and on Sunday she ran the Kalamazoo Marathon as part of the “Earn Your Mittens” challenge. Her intention was to run the Wisconsin marathon to be competitive, but she ended up finishing in a time of 3:17 which was the 2nd place overall female! An amazing result! The impacts of dehydration to an athlete’s body can be various and severe. According to Nina Anderson, author of multiple books on sports nutrition, including “Fueling For Peak Performance”, “as the heart rate increases, oxygen and nutrient delivery to the muscles can drop 10% even with mild exercise." Water losses equal to 2% of body weight and will impact heat regulation. At water losses equal to 3% of body weight, muscle contraction is affected...

We set out to help athletes answer the common questions about calories and how the body processes different types of calories from food. The prevalent idea is that an excess intake of calories, meaning consuming more calories than you burn on average, leads to an increase in body fat. This logic is flawed. Calories are a unit of energy and not a nutrient, they have no physical form unlike, for example, fat which is essentially a long string of carbons with hydrogens attached to them.
